On the home straight!

Hello followers.  I hope you are all well and cracking on with your minis - making better progress than me, probably!

As said in the title, this is the home straight for Netherton.   I have been working on this property since my first post here on 12th January 2012 and I have enjoyed every minute of it.

Progress has now been made on the final two rooms, The Servants' Bedroom and Linen/Sewing Room, in tandem which has taken me a bit longer but they're finally (almost) finished with just a few more accessories to add and I'm hoping that will be taken care of if I can get to the next mini Fair in York.   I wasn't able to make the June event due to rail strikes.

So, onward and firstly, here is the Servants' Bedroom -

This space measures 14" x 14" x 9 1/2" (35cms x 35cms x 24cms).   It was a tad awkward to deal with due to the slope of the wall on the right hand side but I got round that by putting in a false half wall to square it off.     Plain emulsion for these girls, nothing fancy but comfortable enough!   They are even permitted to have a couple of family photos each on the wall next to their beds.

A mug of tea and a piece of toast each is also allowed when their work is done.

To the left are their washing facilities and some accessories are still needed to fill up the cabinet.

Secondly, the Linen/Sewing Room.

This room is the same size as the Servants' Room and has the same issue with the slanted roof.    This time I created a row of cabinets to square up the space and to give me a surface.    Again, more accessories will be added soon.

Once I have these two spaces completely finished and have dealt with the little jobs that get passed over in the excitement to get on with another space, my plan is to give you a guided tour of the whole property, from the Basement up!

The Gentleman's Bedroom is finished

 

Hello everyone and Happy New Year!   A bit late, I know, but I've finally finished the Gentleman's Bedroom.   Thank you for your lovely comments on my last post - they encouraged me to crack on and finally finish this room.    

The very first post for this property (I've just checked) was January 2012.   Can you believe that?   If I'd had a child then, it would be all set for Secondary now!   All the more reason now to get the final two rooms dealt with, but first some pictures of the completed room.

The completed room, all accessories in place.    Silly me had put the door to the back of the room in place before realising it needed something to show that it was the entrance to the dressing room so it was a bit of a fiddle getting the right image in there.   I also noticed, after taking the picture that the sofa needs cushions so these will be added.    

The little standard lamp has an LED bulb, bought by accident (it should have been a wired lamp) but it turned out to be a happy accident as I didn't have any issues siting it and hiding the wires.

Here is the fourth wall with various bits but I'm thinking it needs another little something brighter on there to lift it a bit.    The clothes stand was purchased at a fair years ago and I've been waiting on just the right space for it.   Clothes making isn't really my thing and can cause a lot of angst but I'm happy enough with the blazer and trousers - now that they're done!

Definitely needs cushions.

The pith/safari style helmet on the end of the bed is a nod to the inhabitant's interest in all things Egypt.

When an explorer goes off to Egypt, they definitely need to take a camera and this (on the chest) shows a Box Brownie, which came complete with roll of film and instructions - again purchased from a fair ages ago.

The other thing I'd like to tell you about is the painting below and the little shoe on the table.    The painting and the shoe were gifts to me from Jonquil following on from something I said about a tv programme I had seen involving the main character's encounter with an ancestral ghost and her shoe as the main story line!    So here we have, with many, many thanks to Jonquil for her beautiful painting and handmade shoe, the ancestor of the owner of Netherton.

Hopefully my next post wont take so long in appearing.    The final two rooms in Netherton are the Sewing Room and Servants' Room.
