It's been a while!

                                              Happy New Year, followers.

I hadn't realised that it's been six months since my last post.   That's shocking!   I have been working on The Drawing Room but am hampered by the delay in getting a suitable rug for this room.   The one I want isn't available at the moment and hasn't been available for a while and nothing else I've seen matches up to it.   I then thought "print your own" but that's not feasible as I can't get hold of the fuzzy computer paper any longer - at least not in Scotland!    What I need is a fair.

Having said that, I can show you where I'm at at the moment.    If I ignore the rug issue all I need for this room, to finish it off, are the accessories and to wire in the table lamp.    I'm pleased with the way this is going given that I had no idea initially of where I wanted to go with this.

There is another reason for the delay in progress.......................I have another property!

Not much to show yet but hopefully the new blog will give you some idea of what I'll be doing.   I'm waiting on permission to use a couple of pictures before I can launch this new venture and once I get that (hopefully, fingers crossed) I'll add a link.

This new venture is called The Silk Weaver's House.

  1. Hi Irene - if you're a stitcher have you looked at the rug kits by Janet Granger? I've made several of her rugs and they are beautiful. Her website is https://www.janetgranger.co.uk/product-category/carpet-kits/
    Hope this is helpful, Allison

  2. I know just how frustrating it can be, not having the ONE element you need when you need it, but in the meantime, the room even without the rug looks good and I like the informal way you've arranged the furniture.
And just as soon as you hook up the table lamp, I'll be flopping on that sofa with a good book! ;D

  3. Hello Irene,
The room looks gorgeous. I think you furnished it beautifully and I particularly like the over mantel. The set up is well balanced and quite elegant, but not showy. The colors and textures work so well together. I cannot wait to see the new project.

  4. Your room looks really great so far. I like the bookcases on each side of the fireplace. I hope you will find the carpet that will suit the room.

  6. Hi Irene! I missed this post somehow...! What a shame that the rug you want is not to be found anymore! I hate that when it happens to me! (It tends to make me buy things when I see them in case they disappear later!) LOL! I think you have solved the dilemma with this room's furniture placement brilliantly! It is always more pleasing to see the profile of the furniture rather than the back.... putting the sofa on the side wall works really well!!! And the balance is preserved with the matching bookcases beside the fireplace and the two club chairs opposite the sofa! It looks really good this way! I hope you do find the carpet you are looking for.... or one that is close enough! And I am really eager to see this new property....!!!!! Happy New Year! :)
